One of Student Council’s major goals this year has been to showcase and recognize the variety of talent that exists within the KIS community. Last term, we held the Spirit of the Houses Art Competition to shine the light on all our aspiring artists. This term, Student Council hosted KIS The Voice to give an opportunity for all the great singers of KIS to hit the stage.
The first round of auditions took place in late February, with the House Captains and SC leadership taking on the role of judges. In early March, the second round of blind auditions were held, where four teams were formed under our four amazing coaches: Mr Chris V, Mr Tim C, Ms Eui and Mr Aaron. Afterwards, a knockout round was held where the coaches chose a singer to proceed to the finals. The singers chosen were:
Team Chris: Andrea (G8)
Team Tim: Erin (G9)
Team Aaron: Kerry (G11)
Team Eui: Jaa (G6)
The Final round was held in assembly on Thursday, March 26th with the final winner chosen through popular voting. After an intense competition, Andrea from Team Chris emerged as the winner of KIS The Voice! Erin from Team Tim took the position of second place. Congratulations Andrea, and thank you all participants for showing your spirit and enthusiasm throughout the competition! Student Council would also like to thank all the coaches, teachers and students for their support.
Like when we hosted the art competition, The Voice left us deeply impressed by the talent of the students of KIS. Truly, this is a school filled with students of capability and potential. Student Council hopes that The Voice gave an opportunity for all of those who love to sing at KIS to showcase themselves and perform, and that everyone in the school enjoyed seeing the amazing skill of our singers. And don’t forget that this is hardly the final time that SC will host competitions…who knows what other talents we will discover next?
